This is one of 3 en plein air pieces I did in the mizzle at Falmouth Classics earlier this year.  It was very enjoyable trying to capture the essence of the day, muted colours and flat light as is the way in Cornish mizzle, and the beautiful traditional wooden yachts, sailing so quietly and calmly, their canvas heavy with the wet, the  sea smooth and silvery, the damp seeping into every grain, weave and pore.  This is of 1920 55ft Nickolson yawl, Patna.  She has the Edwardian elegance of her era and treasured  patina of time.
